My other Grandparents

When I broke my neck about 14 years ago, we recieved alot of help from our family and friends; I will never forget the help we got from Jessie and Kenneth Roberts. At the time they were in their early 70s, they stayed at our house and watched over my 8 siblings while my parents where in the hospital with me. They played games with my siblings, cooked food for them and were just great. My younger siblings began calling them grandma and grandpa.
A month later when I was finally home, I had to be home schooled and one again Jessie Roberts helped us out again. She is a retired school teacher so she was able to help me catch up with my lessons and then attend my 8th grade graduation.
I will never forget how great they have been with my family. They are so loving, so patient, such good people.
January 2nd I went with my mom to visit them. They are now in their late 80s, Kenneth has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Deasease and can hardly walk, his speech is unintelligible but he still has the same wit and smile. Jessie is mobile and seems healthy however is showing early signs of dementia but she too still had the same beautiful laugh. I felt great going to see them and I'm glad they still remember me. However, I can't help but feel guilty for not going more frequent to see them. They did so much for us, and sometimes it's just so easy to forget.
I'm decided that from now on, every time I go to Benjamin I will visit them.
I love them so much and I hate to see them suffer...
On a brighter note, they are still the cutest couple. They speak of each other with such great respect and shared with us that they will be going on 68 years of marriage. Wow, how great that they still have each other. Love is so beautiful.
